The eSESH project took part in this year’s CeBIT exhibition in Hannover, Germany from 6-10 March 2012. eSESH was selected to be part of the “Smarter Living” area there. As one of the highlights, Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission, responsible for the Digital Agenda for Europe, visited the eSESH stand (the official EC news is available here).

The eSESH pilot sites Linz (Austria) and Moulins (France) showed innovative service solutions piloted in the project. The interactive service demonstrations allowed visitors direct access to the services live via TV, iPad or notebook. Both demonstrated services for tenants and housing organisations which help them to save energy and water.

“Being part of the CeBIT was a great opportunity and experience! Especially the visit of Mrs. Kroes. She showed great interest to hear all about the project and about the experiences of the users with the interface in detail”, reports Olivier Fabre, General Manager from Real Project Partner

All service demonstrations at the exhibition were interactive. Through this, Olivier Fabre demonstrated the TV interface used in Moulins Habitant live. “The goal is to enable the tenants to access their energy consumptions actively through their TV. Thereby, the users can change their behavior and react already before they receive their yearly invoice”, he explains.

About eSESH: The eSESH project aims at helping Europe to meet emission targets by achieving a significant reduction of energy consumption in European social housing. In total, 33 organisations are cooperating to provide ICT-based Energy Management and Energy Awareness Services directly to social housing tenants. eSESH services are up and running in more than 3,000 dwellings located in 16 different cities across 6 European countries.
